It's 3:08 in Oklahoma City. 4:08 in Washington D.C. where the Senate is debating the Iraq War. I am currently listening to the unhinged ravings of John McCain trying to resurrect "the domino theory" and replace it in the Middle East. Uh... bullshit, Senator. How's that race for the White House going?
Hillary Clinton just took the podium looking like she's already had a caffeine crash prior to midnight. Speaking slowly, she is mercifully not stammering at least. 3:17 - and now she's picking up steam, obligingly praising the troops in kissy-face genuflection that must not ever be glossed over... Oh, nooooooooo... not so long as one side relentlessly accuses the other of not adoring them enough... Poor little deeply sensitive Marines...
Oh man, I am so sick of this bullshit. But the farce must continue. I hope our so-called leaders are getting pretty fucking sick of it too - they deserve these sleepless nights more than anyone.
My favorite argument is always from Republican Legislators claiming that the Legislature has no business dictating Iraq policy from a political viewpoint. What happens though when there is no political leadership at the top? George Bush's idea of political leadership in war is to reach for a machine gun to shoot holes through the plastic bag pulled over his head suffocating him. Except it's not his head literally gasping for air against the folding clutches of death, so what does he really have to care? He feels History will vindicate him just as Divine Providence apparently blessed him with his immeasurable fashion sense and wit.
3:51 - Bob Casey has just stepped up to the plate. I hope he knocks the goddamned ball out of the park. Ugh. Bad poetry allusions. Great. I should go to bed. I've been mad as hell about this dumb goddamned war since before it began & I want to see it end tonight!
Some moron named John Barrasso just took the mic, bragging how early he gets up every day, spouting patriotic buzzword horsehit like he was the first horse to ever crap and claim it as a sacred offspring. And on live TV! I see a big future for such a grandiose wafter. America is truly blessed.
