I like watching movies lately. I like movies that have nothing to do with the subject of love. The "romance movies" I saw growing up were more about what we'd call stalker behavior now; Persistence pays off. Sacrifice. Humiliation. All that shit.
Eventually, she loves you back and you live happily ever after...
Right now I am listening to Errol Morris' The Fog of War with former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara talking about America's role in Viet Nam and the potential for nuclear war.
I swear this is the equivalent of comfort food to me...
It cheers me up immensely to have survived the Twentieth Century - perhaps the bloodiest century in human history - yet, so progressive... The beginning of air flight, leading to moon-landings, that I don't even remember... Computers, and as I have already said, all that shit...
I think this next century may actually be worse for different reasons, but all I can do is hope for something better.
I guess there's not much room in me for celebrating the vanity and indulgences of the human race.
I have served these privileged, gated-community types and suffered their flippant and half-witted insults and had to smile in return and hold out my hand for tips.
I know it is nothing to aspire to...
As former First Lady Barbara Bush said before her idiot son launched a vanity war in Iraq that has resulted in the deaths of over a hundred thousand people as well; "Why should we hear about body bags and death? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

"In that single night, we burned to death a hundred thousand Japanese civilians in Tokyo - men, women and children..." - McNamara talking about World War II...
