The Drive West at Dusk

So I am driving home tonight after yet another day of moving, stinking of sweat and dust that caked my skin in a way that looked like I was bleeding rust & as I hit the interstate and watched the sunset open in front of me, I almost gasped at how spectacular it was. As I drove over the lake and recognized Venus shining brightly and the thinnest sliver of moon barely hovering over the red horizon, I was truly just stunned.
There was nowhere to pull over for a picture or I would have taken a better one than the picture I got illuminating all of the bug guts stiffly varnishing the outside of the wind shield.
Shit, sometimes you just have to be there...
Anyway, I felt my outlook lighten a little bit with this little glimpse of a fading day. I've felt pretty grim lately about too many things far beyond my control & it was a fucking relief to be startled by something unexpected and spectacular.

I didn't forget my writings for here while I was off the grid.
I watched horror films (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - twice. No time for a third viewing.) and wrote about them & also I wrote a script for a commercial celebrating independence and unrepentant nihilism.
