Shortened Days of Impending Winter

Fifteen minutes ago I remembered the child mentioning that he needed a wrapped Christmas present to take to school in about seven hours for a class gift exchange.
Lost in the events of the day, the present was completely forgotten.
The present suffered at the thought of a different future actually - we decided tonight to move again...
We met a friend of ours at a property he wants to rent & decided that we will be moving there within the next few weeks. The very thought of moving again knotted my shoulder severely enough that I needed a zap from my TENS Unit to loosen up. All the same, I am glad to be leaving this place.
On the drive home we stopped at an old bridge spanning a wide river to take some photographs with my woman's new camera & we discovered five abandoned young cats at a city park stretched along the riverside. We could only make contact with one of them though & after some small disgusted debate revolving around the kind of bastards who leave animals to die like this - the cat is sleeping on the child's bed as I write this now. He is a beautiful cat.

Have you already forgotten the present we were supposed to send to school tomorrow in the course of reading all of this?

Like Christmas isn't enough of a hated pain in the ass without letting my kid feel like a bum for all of my goddamn failures to remember little things...
