Disgusting...

All I see when I watch local news are traffic accidents, murders, feel-good stories about courageous cancer-survivors, and - because it's Christmas - stories about shopping and getting good deals. Ho ho ho. Tis the season for racking up monstrous credit card debt after all!

What I haven't seen, except in National news, is any mention of Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn finally relenting in his shameful procedural hold on providing first responders with the health care they need, still suffering horrible health problems from the collapse of the twin towers during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Coburn's self-righteous intransigence earned him a thorough and well-deserved battering & smack-down from political opposition astonished by such cruel display of needless stupidity and even from players within in his own party. Perhaps worst of all was when his office in Washington was stormed by angry firefighters on Tuesday:
"Mr Coburn should be ashamed of himself. Because I think before he was a senator he was a doctor and he took an oath to help people that are sick. He's going against his oath as a doctor. He can vote any way he wants as a senator, but as a doctor, he just embarrassed the medical profession."
If you could only find any mention of this story in the local newspapers or TV news broadcasts busy tracking Santa's big sleigh ride Friday night, the State of Oklahoma might just realize that Coburn just embarrassed all of us too. Not that anyone who has paid any attention to Coburn's political career should at all be surprised.
Protecting Coburn's and fellow imbecile Senator Jim Inhofe's feeble reputations is as easy as ignoring their disgraceful and often stupid antics in favor of publishing or airing yet another heart-warming story of cuddly-cute abandoned puppies who need good homes.
