I ignored the five year anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq last Wednesday. It's part of my quest to become more like mainstream America.
I'm just grateful to be doing my part by paying exorbitant gas prices without complaint like a good homeland soldier. You won't read those inflation gripes here at 30 Seconds. No price is too high to jeopardize what our military is paying for it over there, after all.
So today I was pleasantly surprised when my noon news added a number some might consider politically charged to the grim announcement that fatalities for our soldiers in Iraq has reached 4,000.
With some refreshing appreciation for the monumental scope of this entirely predictable statistic, KOTV further reported that 97% of those soldiers died after George Bush declared "major combat operations have ended" under the big MISSION ACCOMPLISHED sign.
I don't know how we as a people can last while failing ourselves & each other so miserably.
Maybe we shouldn't.
Whatever.
