Over the past few days, a cow has been escaping from the pasture. She would roam around and eat clover and other fine grasses and crap all over the yard. Personally I understand the feeling; spring fever has been hitting here pretty hard & the urge to break out and run naked down the road towards some sense of the grass being greener on the other side has an awesome appeal. The weather fluctuates wildly between snow just two nights ago to a warm sunny day like today that was simply glorious for confirming hopes that winter was fading.
Dirty Red, as I call her, knows it too. I thought cows were dumb until I chased her all over the goddamn yard half a dozen times. She was getting better at dodging me too. Today she rounded the corner on me after I cut her off from freedom at the end of the drive way. We have a very long drive way flanked by fence on either side and she did some damned Billy Sims move on me and nearly got away. I had to dismount my bike as she hid behind two columns of hay bails planning to run past me again. Finally I chased her back into the yard and my woman opened the gate and let Dirty Red back in the pasture. She turned back towards and bitched at us with an indignant moo and stomped off.
Anyway... that's what my weekend was like.
